Old sports injury? Accident injury? Or maybe just a chronic pain issue that affects your mobility? I can help you! Pain is one of the body's ways to call for your attention when something is wrong. Because we have a tendency to push through or ignore it, the root cause of the pain can continue to get worse and may eventually lead to significant injury. Throughout our lives we move through minor injuries and issues, often times using compensation techniques to avoid the pain we experience, and by doing so we send our bodies into a state of imbalance, limited function, overall dis-ease. It does not have to be this way.
The basic foundation for safe and efficient movement is balance—this can be within the muscles and soft tissue throughout the body as well as within the bone structure. After an injury an imbalance is often present and may persist long after the injury has healed. Rehabilitating to full pre-injury movements can be a long process, one that must often continue after physical therapy ends, and may require lifelong attention. Often times, we return to full activity before the injury is fully healed and with an imbalance in our bodies, which makes the likelihood of reinjury high. This is also true if a continual balance isn’t maintained throughout movement.
In our training sessions we will focus on the following:
I will guide you in learning how the body moves and together we will work through your recovery while treating the body as a whole, balanced and connected system.
